Colonel  George Kallitsounakis was born in 1961 in Iraklio Crete. He completed his education at Athens. He was admitted to the Army Military Academy in 1980, graduated in 1984 and was commissioned as second lieutenant in the Mechanic.

He served in various Mechanic and he attended all the Mechanic courses.

In 2010 he was promoted to Colonel.

Colonel George Kallitsounakis has been decorated with the following:

- Medal of Long Service B’ Class.

- Medal of Order of Phoenix.

- Medal of Staff Officer B’ Class.Colonel George Kallitsounakis is married to Kiriaki Karakioulahi. The couple has two children: Emmanouil and Hara.
