BRIGADIER GENERAL Ippokratis Daskalakis

daskalakis_smallBrigadier General Ippokratis Daskalakis was born in Thessaloniki, Northern Greece, on the 24th December 1961. Following his graduation from the Hellenic Military Academy (1979-1983), he was commissioned as Second Lieutenant of the Artillery and continued his training in the Artillery School.

In 1985, he is posted as Battery Commander in the 156th Medium-Heavy Artillery Battalion (1985-1987). Consecutively, he is trained in Greece and USA in the Air Defense HAWK Weapon System and as a Tactical Control Officer in the 180th Guided Missile Battalion (1987-1991). He afterwards assigned as Battery Commander of Light Anti-aircraft Artillery and at same time as an Operations-Intelligence officer in the 98th National Guard Artillery Battalion (1991-1993) and finally, as Deputy Commander in the same Unit (1993-1995).

After having attended all Schools/Courses as provided to his rank, he enters the Army War College (1995-1996) and he is consecutively posted as an Instructor and Plans Officer in the Infantry School (1996-1997). In 1997, he attends the Strategic Intelligence Course in Defense Intelligence Agency Washington, DC. Right after he is in charge of the Hawk Department/Artillery Directorate in Hellenic Army General Staff (1997-2000).

From 2000-2003, he is assigned as J2 Balkans Section Chief in Napoli, Italy (AFSOUTH).

On his return he assumes the Command of a Light Anti-aircraft Artillery Battalion (2003-2005) in the 80th National Guard Artillery Battalion.

For another six-month period he assumes the duties of Section Chief in INFO OPS in Multinational Task Force North, within the frame of ALTHEA Operation of European Union in Bosnia-Herzegovina. On his return, he is assigned in charge of an A/A Artillery Wing at Artillery Directorate in Hellenic General Staff (2006-2007).

Following his graduation from the Defense War College (2007-2008) he is assigned to SHAPE, Belgium (2008-2011), initially as the Chief of Development Directorate of Military Cooperation Division and later in the Capabilities Plans and Policy, as Team Leader in Crisis Response Operations.

In May 2, 2011 he takes over the Command of NAMFI in Crete.

In 2003 he graduated from the Section of International and European Studies of “PANTIOS” University of Athens. He holds a “MASTER” Degree of same University in International Relations and Strategic Studies (2008).

Brigadier General Ippokratis Daskalakis is married to Maria Nomikou and they have a son, Rafael-Chrisovalantis Daskalakis (1992), a student in the Industrial Management and Technology School of the University of Piraeus.

He spends his free time in swimming, bicycling and reading Books of historical and international relations interest.
