NAMFI Deputy Commander is Colonel (HAF) Ioannis Kontarakis, who assumed his duties on May 10, 2010.

He was born in Tsitsifes, Chania in 1960. He entered the Hellenic Air Force Academy in 1978. He graduated as a Flying officer with the rank of a 2^nd Lieutenant in 1982, when he was assigned in 115 Combat Wing, in A-7H Aircraft until 1991.

From 1991 uptoday, he has served in various staff and command posts:

• Instructor of Air Force War college
• Operations Officer
• Commander of A-7H Training Squadron
• HAFGS Staff Officer
• Commander of 340 Bombing Squadron  (A-7H)
• Staff Officer of 115 Combat Wing
• Deputy Commander of 126 Combat Air Base Group
• Commander of 126 Combat Air Base Group

He has also served, as a NATO Staff Officer in SHAPE.

He has attended all anticipated Military Schools in Greece and abroad.

Family Status

Colonel Ioannis Kontarakis is married to Georgia Tsivi. The couple have two daughters.
