From 13 June 18 until 21 of June 18 NATO SUPPORT PROCUREMENT AGENCY (NSPA) conducted at NAMFI Reliability STINGER firings. The firings were executed against air teleguided drones and were considered very successful. The firings were attended by the Stinger Support Partnership Committee whose meeting took place at NAMFI from 19th to 21th June 2018.
The 57th STINGER SPC (Support Partnership Committee) conference took place at the NAMFI facilities, from 19 to 21 June 2018. NAMFI coordinated all arrangements for this meeting in close cooperation with representatives from NSPA (NATO Support and Procurement Agency). During the STINGER SPC meeting NAMFI provided a detailed presentation concerning their organization and range capabilities. The STINGER SPC conference was concluded with success. The Commander of NAMFI, Brigadier General Kleanthis KARATSIN hosted a dinner for the members of the committee.
On 5th of June 2018 firings with STINGER weapon system were executed in NAMFI, by Units of Hellenic Army, in parallel with the certification of BATS targets. The firings were considered very successful and were attended by the Commander of the Supreme Military Command of the Interior and Islands and the Director of Artillery Directorate.
On the 15th of April 2018, took place the 3rd Crete Marathon in Chania town. In this event NAMFI actively participated in the 10 and 5 km run as well as to the volunteer teams, with Commander B. Gen Kleanthis KARATSIN and 8 executives of the staff.
On the 22nd of March 2018 and at 11:00 pm, the change of NAMFI Command ceremony took place at the Cantonment area of NAMFI, between Brigadier General Anastasios GKOUMAS and Brigadier General Kleanthis KARATSIN. The participants were delegation from the military bases of Chania and Crete, local authorities, several guests from the local society of Chania.
From the 6th until the 8th of March 2018, the first UNAC (Users NAMFI Annual Committee) meeting for the year 2018, UNAC 1/2018, took place at Rostock, in Germany. The participants were delegated from the User Nations, SHAPE and NAMFI and they discussed several issues regarding the organization of NAMFI. The issues concerned planned activities, shooting, infrastructure and upgrading of the services provided by NAMFI, as well as budget issues.
On Monday the 26th of February 2018, under a formal meeting, the Defense Attaché of Poland, Colonel Zbigniew RYBKA visited NAMFI. During the visit, he was informed about NAMFI’s mission and capabilities.
On Thursday the 21st of February 2018, in the context of their educational program, a group of 17 senior officers of the CAPSTONE Course, from US Armed Forces, followed by US Military Attaché in Athens, visited NAMFI. During their visit, they were briefed on the mission and NAMFI’s capabilities.
On Wednesday the 11th of November 2017 the Netherlands/Belgium Navy conducted live missile firings in NAMFI’s area, with NSSM missile and 76/30 mm gunnery. The firings were conducted against aerial targets. The exercise was conducted with a perfect success rate.
