LIEUTENANT COLONEL NEKTARIOS GEORGAKOPOULOS
Lieutenant Colonel Nektarios Georgakopoulos was born on March 21, 1978 in Patra. He was admitted to the Air Force Academy in 1996, graduated in 2000 and was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the Air Force.
Lieutenant Colonel Nektarios Georgakopoulos has successfully attended all the required Field and Air Defence schools including Weapons and Tactics Academy (WEPTAC) in 2002 and graduated as an instructor. He also attended successfully the ACO SBAMD Operations TACEVAL Evaluator (N3-25), the NATO Exercise Planning Cource (EPC) at NATO SCHOOL Oberammergau and the ACO Tactical Evaluation Cource in Ramstein. He is a NATO qualified Team Chief (TC) with ACOS approval, has experience as Project Officer (PROJO) in the TACEVAL program and performs FIREGUARD duties at the NAMFI range to ensure the safe execution of Tactical Firings.
He speaks English proficient at a professional level.
As a junior officer, he served in 117 CW and 115 CW of HAF as a Commander of the Weapon Systems “VELOS” and “CROTALE” Squadrons and concurrently serving as an instructor at WEPTAC Academy.
His primary staff responsibilities as a senior officer include Education and Standardization Officer for Surface Based Air and Missile Defence (SBAMD) Systems in 115 CW, FCA Evaluator, Team Leader and PROJO in the TFE Section and Director Assistance in Air Defence Design Department of Hellenic National Defence General Staff.
In 2024 he was appointed Chief of TFE Section at Nato Missile Firing Installation (NAMFI).
Lieutenant Colonel Nektarios Georgakopoulos has received all the prescribed decorations, medals, and commendations for his service.
He is married and has two kids.
