Visit of US Permanent Representative to the North Atlantic Council at Chania

On 19^th of March 2026, the Commanders of the NAMFI and the 115th CW welcomed to Chania the Permanent Representative of the United States to the North Atlantic Council (NATO), Ambassador Mr. Matthew WHITAKER, accompanied by the Director General of the General Directorate for Defence Policy, Ambassador  a.h  Mr. Michail Spinellis, as well as Greece’s Permanent Representative to NATO, Ambassador Ms. Vasiliki Gounari.

As part of the visit, briefings were conducted on the mission, activities, and capabilities of NAMFI, NMIOTC, IAMD COE  and the 115th Combat Wing. Visits were also carried out to various facilities of the Naval Base in Souda.

During the visits, the importance of strengthening cooperation between Greece and the United States was highlighted, particularly in areas concerning security, air defense, as well as the optimization of the training provided in these fields.
