Drone Challenge Trials at the NATO Missile Firing Installation (NAMFI)

During the period 31 August to 4 September 2026, the 1st phase of the trials for the Competition on Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) was conducted at the NATO Missile Firing Installation (NAMFI) facilities.

The Competition is organized under the European project “Operational Resilience of Drones in Experiments and Autonomous Flight (ORDEAL)”, which is funded by the European Defence Fund (EDF) and conducted under the auspices of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH).

In general terms, the project is a groundbreaking initiative designed to accelerate the state-of-the art push and deployment of autonomous drone technologies in challenging and harsh environments.
