On Saturday, June 29th 2019, a memorial ceremony was held at NAMFI’s Cantonment Area, in memory of LTC (ARTY) Ponirakis George who died in a car accident in 1997 while he was serving in the Operation division of NAMFI. The religious ceremony that was executed, by his eminence Metropolitan of Kydonias & Apokoronou Mr. Damaskinos, was attended by the Commander of NAMFI BGEN Kleanthis Karatsin, staff, his family, relatives and military schoolmates and comrades of the deceased. The ceremony continued in NAMFI’s Headquarters by naming the Operation Division Conference Room as LTC (ARTY) Ponirakis George.
