The religious celebration of “METAMORPHOSIS SOTIROS” and Annual Memorial Ceremony For the Rememberance of the Loss of the Hellenic Air Force Personnel at the NATO Missile Firing Installation (NAMFI)

On Thursday, 6 August 2026, the religious celebration of “METAMORPHOSIS SOTIROS” was observed in an atmosphere of reverence and due solemnity at the Church bearing the same name, located at the Launching Area of the NATO Missile Firing Installation (NAMFI).

Following the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, a memorial prayer was offered for the repose of the souls of the fallen airmen, Lieutenant Colonel (Air Force) Athanasios Bourolias, Warrant Officer Antonios Sifakis, and Second Lieutenant (Air Force) Dimitrios Mardikis, who lost their lives in the line of duty at NAMFI.

The ceremony was attended by the Commander of NAMFI, Major General Nikolaos DIMITRAKOS, Commanders of the Military Authorities of the Chania Garrison, relatives of the fallen airmen, and NAMFI personnel.
