On Friday, 3 July 2026, students of the American Hellenic Institute (AHI) visited the NATO Missile Firing Installation (NAMFI) as part of their educational program.
The President of the Institute, Mr. Nikolaos Larigakis, and the students were welcomed at the NAMFI facilities by the Commander of NAMFI, Major General Nikolaos Dimitrakos.
During the visit, the students were briefed on NAMFI’s mission, role,operations, and operational capabilities, with particular emphasis on its strategic importance as an internationally recognized facility supporting training activities, testing, and the evaluation of air defense systems. They were also informed about NAMFI’s role in supporting national and Allied activities, as well as its contribution to strengthening defense cooperation and enhancing the operational readiness of participating units in the context of multinational exercises.
The students demonstrated a particularly high level of interest throughout the visit, as evidenced by the questions they raised during the briefing. The ensuing discussion further underscored NAMFI’s unique position among other European firing ranges and its longstanding and distinctive cooperation with the Alliance (NATO).
